Our 4-Step Process
1. INSPECTION
On arrival, we do a visual inspection of the exterior of the chimney and look for any particular issues and what type of cowling has been fitted, if any. The area around the fireplace will be covered with sheeting to protect your floor and furniture. We then will check the stove for any potential issues before moving on to the sweeping process.
2. SWEEPING PROCESS
Before moving on to the sweep, we will check the firebricks for any signs of deterioration. The stove will be gutted to allow access to sweep the flue. The opening to the stove or open fire place will be sealed either using foam blocks or sheeting. The rods are pushed to the top of the chimney and rotary swept multiple times on the way down ensuring a thorough clean.
3. SMOKE CHECK
Once the interior of the stove is reassembled a type 2 smoke check will then be conducted to confirm proper draft, appliance air control function, and to check for leakage, typically after the flue is warmed. A visual inspection of the exterior of the chimney will also indicate any potential leaks or issues.
4. CERTIFICATION
Once complete, we provide a NACS-compliant certificate for your insurance and record-keeping.
Safety & Peace of Mind
Maintaining and having your chimney swept is extremely important. A clean chimney means it will burn more efficiently, be better for the environment and safe to use.
If you fail to keep your chimney and appliances clean, it can lead to blockages resulting in deterioration of the flue liner, chimney fires or carbon monoxide poisoning.
Below is an example of creosote build up which can lead to blockages and chimney fires.
